The Factory DVD Review

Synopsis: Detective Mike Fletcher, a rugged and obsessive police officer, and his partner Kelsey Walker, are on the trail of a serial killer who prowls the streets targeting young streetwalkers. When his teenage daughter disappears, Fletcher discovers that the killer has kidnapped her after mistaking her for a prostitute. Fletcher's obsession goes into overdrive when he drops all professional restraint to get the killer and save his daughter.

Review: The first thing that struck me about the Factory was the fantastic cast.  I'm a huge Cusack fan and I am a regular Dexter viewer, so Jennifer Carpenter is a welcome addition!  Also, Cusack's daughter in the film, the subject of the mystery, is the alternative girl from the Perks of Being A Wallflower, so that was cool.  The Factory begins just as you think it should..dark..a little gritty.  The film lets you know right away that it's inspired by actual events, which of course brings a tone of ominance to the movie.  The Factory begins with murder and introduces us to a long standing case of prostitues being killed during the winter months.   The atmosphere of the film is kept blue, dark, cold and does a great job of creating an environment of desolation and emptiness through the weather.  Cusack does a great job as an obsessed cop whose own daughter gets tangled up in his long term investigation.   This one is a great suspense-ride that ends with a HUGE twist.  This one is not to be missed.
