Super Friends was first broadcast on Saturday, September 8, 1973 on ABC. The series, produced by Hanna Barbera, ran until August 30, 1974.

This show introduced the "Junior Super Friends" Marvin, Wendy and the Wonder Dog. This original series also featured cameos by Green Arrow, the Flash and Plastic Man, along with a character named Colonel Wilcox. Col. Wilcox called upon the Super Friends whenever their help was needed

This initial run of episodes would later be re-run as a pre-cursor to the All New Superfriends Hour, from Saturday, February 7, 1976 to Saturday, September 3, 1977..
