"....we respect the Batman legacy.."

--Diedrich Bader, voice of Batman on Batman: The Brave & the Bold
Welcome to our EXCLUSIVE interview with Diedrich Bader.  Diedrich is the voice of Bruce Wayne & Batman on the upcoming Batman: The Brave and the Bold Cartoon.  Diedrich was kind enough to take some time out of his busy schedule to chat with Legions of Gotham regarding this new show....

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LOG: You've had quite a prolific career in voice acting thus far, including roles on Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Kim Possible and Gargoyles.  What first drew you to voice acting?

DIEDRICH BADER: I always wanted to do it. Then I got lucky.

LOG: You're voicing Batman/Bruce Wayne in the upcoming Batman: Brave & The Bold cartoon, but what fans may not realize is that this isn't your first time on a Batman show.  Your past roles include Zeta on Batman Beyond (and the subsequent spin-off 'The Zeta Project) and Shadow Thief on 'The Batman'.  Are you yourself a Dc Comics fan at all?  Do you have any particular enjoyment in playing these types of comic book-based characters?

DB:
I have been on various incarnations of Batman but this is my favorite. Not just because I'm Batman, our show has a sense of humor and is very fluid and colorful.

LOG: What research, if any, did you conduct while preparing to tackle the role of Batman?  What do you feel that you've brought to the role that hasn't been there in past incarnations?

DB: My research includes a lot of vigilante activity and wearing a cowl around the house. I think I bring my own sense of humor to the party.

LOG: Do you consider yourself a Batman fan?   If so, you grew up in a time of a much lighter-hearted hero…do you have a favorite incarnation of Batman?

DB: Adam West is still my favorite. And me.

LOG: Did you see the Dark Knight movie this summer?  What were your reactions to the film?

DB: I did not, but I heard it was the feel good movie of the year.

LOG:  As a parent, I'm thankful for this new show with the lighter tone.  Did you consider your son at all when taking this role?  In the way of seeing the importance of having Batman entertainment available to fans of all ages.

DB: I am so excited to show my kids this Batman. My son is his biggest fan and I think he may just burst into flame when it actually airs. He is the reason I wanted to do this. I wanted him to have a show he could watch at 5.

LOG:  Do you have anything you'd like to say to the parents, fans and readers at LegionsofGotham.org regarding your new role as Batman?

DB: I would like parents who are fans to know that we respect the Batman legacy and character in a show that everyone can watch. My 3 year old is in my lap now so its hard to type with one hand.

The crew of this show, will be watching your reactions, so be sure to join our message board and post your thoughts on the new show as its aired!  Click HERE to visit our message board, bookmark it,  and join today!
