Young Justice Invasion - Destiny Calling: Season 2 DVD Review
Synopsis: Join Young Justice and watch them battle villains and fight crime in a 2-disc 10 episode collection! For the Young Justice squad being a teenager means proving yourself over and over - to peers, parents, teachers, mentors and, ultimately, to yourself. But what if you're not just a normal teenager? What if you're a teenage super hero? How much harder will it be to prove yourself in a world of super powers, super villains and super secrets? Are you ready to come of age in such a world? Are you ready for life or death rites of passage? Are you ready to join the ranks of the great heroes and prove you're worthy of the Justice League? That's exactly what the members of Young Justice - Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and Artemis - will find out . whether they have what it takes to be a proven hero. The latest season of the critically acclaimed series jumps ahead in time 5 years to re-introduce the original squad as well as all new members Nightwing, Wondergirl, Blue Beetle, Batgirl, and Beast Boy as they fight off a secret alien invasion affecting the entire planet.
Review: I've been loyally tuning into Batman cartoons since I was a toddler and the Superfriends was gracing screens back in the 1980s.  Then, the Timmverse came and the game was re-set...the definitive animated Batman was born and carried in through Batman Beyond and Justice League.  Then, we get little offerings that entertain like Teen Titans and The Batman, but nothing that really stomps its foot and feels lasting.  Enter: Young Justice.   The first thing that strikes you is the design.  Its sleek, modern, but not kitchy, so it will hold up.  The writing and characterizations are well developed and the stories are well thought out serialized tales that are woven like comic book arcs.  I cannot say enough good things about Young healed the wounds left gaping when the Timmverse went away.  The second season of Young Justice is subtitled Invasion and this great DVD release features the first ten episodes!  This show is a must see for adult and child fans alike.
The Episodes included are:
Happy New Year
Before the Dawn
Special features:  The DVD features the Brave and the Bold episodes "Rise of the Blue Beetle", "Fall of the Blue Beetle" and "Revenge of the Reach".  These episodes are key if you're keeping up with the new episodes of Young Justice Invasion as the Blue Beetle and the Reach have become central focuses.
