Hunter Prey DVD Review

Hunter Prey DVD Review

Synopsis: Sandy Collora is perhaps best known as the man who directed the cult short film Batman: Dead End, praised by Kevin Smith as possibly the truest, best Batman movie ever made , albeit before the Nolan era. Now, seven years later, Collora has thrown off the shackles of his short film career with the release of his debut feature film Hunter Prey, a science fiction spectacular with the same heart and soul as the glorious Sci-fi of the mid 1980 s. the much-celebrated director and FX designer has his DVD debut December 2010

Review: This new sci-fi film by Sandy Collora looked interesting to me and I had spoken to both director Sandy and star Clark Bartram years back about their Batman: Dead End short for our Batman website Legions of Gotham.  They were both nice guys, so I figured that I'd give this DVD a whirl.

In Hunter Prey Collora reaches back to a time when sci-fi was sci-fi.  You had men in monster suits and model miniatures for the ships.  It was a more innocent time.  An era when Star Wars looked great, as opposed to the oversaturation and abuse of CGI that the prequels became.  For those of us that grew up in the 1970s and 80s, we expect something more.  I found this film to be highly entertaining and fun to watch.  The budget was undoubtedly low, but you wouldn't know it.  This is a great film and I can highly recommend it to any sci-fi fan.
